BEYOND 2020 was inaugurated on 01st of February 2020. The project “BEYOND” aims to train house surgeons, Post graduate students and other young doctors in the Principles of prevention and control of cancer, in the Medical Colleges of Kerala. It is organized jointly by the Kerala Association of Surgical Oncologists (KASO), Association of Medical and Pediatric Oncologists of Kerala (AMPOK) Cancer Control Foundation of India (CCFI) and The Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum.
The project was inaugurated by the World renowned Oncologist Dr.M.V.Pillai Professor of Medical Oncology, Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Dr.Pillai highlighted to the young doctors the important areas requiring serious research and documentation for cancer control and treatment. Dr.K.Ajay Kumar, Principal, Medical College Trivandrum, presided over the inaugural session and released the resource material specifically generated for the training. Dr. P.S.Indu, Professor and Head, Community Medicine Department, Medical College, Trivandrum, Dr.Babu Mathew, President CCFI and Dr.K.Chandramohan, Founder Scretary KASO Spoke on the occasion.
Classes were taken by Dr.Anoop T M (Associate Professor Medical Oncology), Dr. Bipin TV (Additional Professor Surgical Oncology), Dr. Dhanya Dinesh (Asst. Professor Gynac Oncology) from RCC Trivandrum and Dr. Boben Thomas (Consultant Medical Oncologist) from Karitas Hospital, Kottayam
The Program will be conducted in Six Govt. Medical Colleges in phased manner within the next two months.
